Diverse community involvement is what drives ROCC towards fulfilling our mission.
Our member organizations are a key driving force behind the many ROCC initiatives including:
- Implementation of a collaborative Social Marketing Campaign with the Richland One Office of Positive Behavior Intervention Systems and other community partners to promote wise youth decisions to reduce marijuana use, teen pregnancy and other risky youth behaviors.
- Implementation of a Multimedia Awareness Campaign with other Midlands Drug Free Grantees to reduce substance abuse and high-risk behaviors among the youth in the Midlands area during prom and graduation season, as well as presenting the prom and graduation safety message in Richland One high schools along with the Office of Safe and Drug Free Schools, Richland One Safety and Emergency Services, the South Carolina Department of Public Safety, the SC Families of Highway Fatalities, and the Alcohol Enforcement Team.
- Collaboration with LRADAC, the Lexington One Community Coalition, the Lexington Two Community Coalition, the Reconnecting Communities Coalition in Richland Two, and the Community Roundtable of Irmo, Dutch Fork and Chapin to implement the “It Is Your Business” Campaign, based on the premise that it is OUR business – the entire community’s – to take part in preventing underage drinking and the potential negative consequences associated with this risky behavior.
- Development of a Business Covenant with local business owners who are committed to reducing underage access to alcohol and tobacco.
- Partnership currently underway with the Richland County Sheriff's Department other Midlands area Drug-Free Communities Coalitions and the South Carolina Pharmacy Association to promote and sustain an ongoing campaign to prevent prescription drug abuse.
