The Richland One Community Coalition (ROCC) (pronounced "rock") is an organization that is on the move! This action group is comprised of community groups and individuals, including churches, nonprofit agencies, schools, local businesses, parents, youth and community leaders.

Parents, youth and community leaders are also members. Members meet to focus on meeting the needs of Richland District One students and families.

ROCC is a diverse, interagency, interfaith, education and community coalition that shares a common vision of caring for the well-being of our youth.

ROCC began through the joint efforts of four organizations: Richland County School District One, the Lexington/Richland Alcohol and Drug Abuse Council (LRADAC), Lexington/Richland School District Five, and the Community Roundtable of Irmo, Dutch Fork and Chapin (CRT). In 2004, a Drug Free Communities Coalition Mentoring Grant was awarded to allow the CRT to mentor the ROCC and help it build its own coalition. ROCC meets year round to work on issues that are relevant to our community.

Ms. Regina Brown, Community and Governmental Relations Manager for Palmetto Health, and Ms. Faye Houston, Executive Director of Student Support Services for Richland County School District One, currently serve as ROCC Co-Chairs.

ROCC's mission is to mobilize the community to address the underlying conditions of substance abuse and other high risk behaviors among youth through community awareness, concern and action.

You are welcome to attend ROCC meetings and become involved in helping Richland District One change the future of our youth and encourage community involvement.
